The first Cargo Commercial flight was to Male, Maldive Islands in August 1997. Since then, ExpoAir has contributed to support the Export Cargo Industry by providing the vital Air Link for carriage of all cargo such as Garments, Perishables and General Cargo etc. to the Indian Sub-continent, United Arab Emirates and to other neighboring countries. More specifically, ExpoAir has assisted the local producers and exporters by achieving a timely & regular flight schedule to airlift perishable products such as Fresh Fruits & Vegetables to neighboring markets in the Maldives, when Exporters were finding it extremely difficult to meet their cargo space requirements. ExpoAir has contributed in supporting the National Economy to bring in the much required foreign exchange and has adequately competed with the South Indian exporters to maintain Sri Lanka's market share with a scheduled Air Cargo Service.
